The Baha’i community of Kolkata organized an event commemorating the passing of Rabindranath Tagore on August 11th at the Kolkata Baha’i House. Over 100 guests, including distinguished dignitaries from various parts of the city, attended the event. Among them were heads and representatives from religious communities, as well as college professors, faculty from the Education Department, school principals, youth, and college students.
Drawing parallels between the Baha’i teachings and the philosophy of Tagore, participants highlighted his emphasis on the oneness of humankind, the ethic of service to humanity and on eliminating prejudice. Additionally, the role of arts and literature in societal advancement was explored, with a focus on how Tagore encouraged every household to promote the arts, recognizing their power in sharpening the mind and fostering intellectual growth.
