New Delhi, March 6, 2025 – The Hon’ble Prime Minister of Guyana, Brigadier (Ret’d) Mark Anthony Phillips, paid a visit to the Bahá’í House of Worship in New Delhi on Wednesday, accompanied by the High Commissioner of Guyana, Mr. Dharamkumar Seeraj.
The Prime Minister was received by representatives of the Bahá’í community, including Ms. Naznene Rowhani, Secretary-General of the National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá’ís of India, Mr. Jaideep Mahalati, the Director of the Bahá’í House of Worship, and Ms. Carmel Tripathi, the Director of the Bahá’í Office of Public Affairs. During the visit, he was given a guided tour of the iconic temple, which is renowned for its architectural beauty and its commitment to interfaith harmony and the oneness of humankind.
Discussions centered on the Bahá’í principles of unity, worship, and service to humanity. The Prime Minister attended a special prayer service featuring readings from various religious scriptures, reflecting the temple’s inclusive ethos. Speaking about the experience, he shared that he felt “his spirit was uplifted” and expressed his deep appreciation for the visit.
In addition to its spiritual significance, the Bahá’í House of Worship has also taken strides in environmental sustainability. The Prime Minister was briefed on its eco-friendly initiatives, including the use of renewable energy and water conservation measures. Acknowledging these efforts, he commended the Bahá’í community’s commitment to environmental responsibility.
The visit concluded with a discussion on faith, sustainability, and social progress. Expressing his gratitude for the warm hospitality, Prime Minister Phillips emphasized the importance of shared efforts in fostering harmony and development.
